Jim is a broiler chicken from a genetic line selected for outstanding performance. But genetic potential is only part of the equation. Stress, pathogen pressure and demanding production conditions can all make it harder for Jim to deliver the performance his genetics promise.
Jim’s challenge: maintaining performance when conditions are anything but ideal.
Nancy – when conditions become a challenge
Nancy is a dairy cow who depends on good feed and a clean, comfortable place to rest. When feed quality varies or barn conditions become harder to manage, staying healthy and maintaining milk production can be more difficult.
Nancy’s challenge: staying resilient when environmental pressure increases.
Patrick – the everyday reality of pig production
Patrick was born and raised on the farm. He represents the everyday realities of modern pig production, where changing environments, health pressure and increasingly demanding performance targets all have to be managed together.
Patrick’s challenge: staying on track as conditions change.
Suzy – keeping production on track
Suzy is a laying hen who is expected to produce consistently over her production cycle. Changes in weather, changes in feed and the demands of continued laying can affect her ability to maintain the level of production and quality expected from her.
Suzy’s challenge: maintaining production when multiple pressures come together.
